Niagara College has launched a new initiative its hopeful the community will take a bite out of — literally.
During its Earth Day celebration Saturday, the college held a groundbreaking for a new edible orchard to be planted on the southwest portion of its Welland campus.
The orchard, made possible through a $3,800 grant from Trees Canada, will include apple, pear, apricot and sweet and sour cherry trees. A variety of fruits and vegetables, such as currants, asparagus, rhubarb and strawberries, will also be planted in the area. Read More…
