St. Luke School in Oakville has just finished its second full school year offering the Crunch Cafe Salad Bar to its students.
First introduced in the fall of 2018, the Crunch Cafe provides students with a variety of fresh vegetables, fruit, protein and grain options at lunch time one day a week. Our program quickly gained momentum among St. Luke students who love being able to choose for themselves from a variety of tasty, colourful and healthy food options. Participation has grown to approximately 60 students this year, which is a substantial portion of St. Luke’s modest enrolment of only 200. Not only are students excited to see and try new things, parents are thrilled and providing feedback that their children are trying things “they never would have at home”.
