Farm to Cafeteria Canada is proud to be a co-host of a series of events in October on school food programs in Indigenous communities and for Indigenous students:
October 12 – Serving Traditional Indigenous Food in Schools Webinar
The Indigenous School Food Circle is hosting a webinar on how school food programs are serving traditional Indigenous foods. Our speakers will share how they’ve brought traditional foods into schools, how they’ve been able to incorporate traditional game and seafood, and any tips that they would offer to other school communities who want to bring traditional foods into their school food programs. This event will take the format of a 1.5 hour facilitated conversation among the panelists followed by time for questions from participants and discussion. October 16 – First Comes Food: A Podcast by Canadian Feed the Children
This podcast explores the surprising ways communities are feeding children and families in the face of a global food crisis. Join Canadian Feed the Children on a journey through Indigenous food forests in Saskatchewan, farming communities in African countries and early childhood community programs in Bolivia and meet the people who are growing food security for everyone.

October 27 & 28 – Come to the Table: Exploring School Food Together
Hosted by the School Food Development Project (SFDP) out of the University of Saskatchewan, this in-person knowledge-sharing event is intended to inspire stories of successful, Indigenous-led school food programs and to facilitate the sharing of information, resources and planning tools; while creating networking and planning opportunities.
