Valued between $500 and $3,000, Seed Grants are designed to provide support to schools that are looking to get started on their farm or local food to school journey. Activities for these new grant recipients will take place between spring 2024 and spring 2025 and will support each school’s efforts to increase access to healthy, local and culturally appropriate food and create opportunities for hands-on learning about food and food systems, such as through access to growing, foraging, harvesting and preparing local food at school.
Plant a Seed & See What Grows Foundation is a registered national charitable organization, dedicated to creating opportunities for children to explore the outdoors and be inspired by the breathtaking wonders of the natural world around them! The Foundation’s programs create moments of inspiration that can last a lifetime—in classrooms, in school gardens, by farm visits, and other outdoor educational activities. Through these outdoor experiences, a healthier generation of children is nurtured, and at the same time they learn to become good stewards of planet earth.

Partnerships are at the heartbeat of Farm to Cafeteria Canada’s work. We believe that we are stronger with many voices, and that everyone can play a role in shaping how students access and experience food in schools. We’re thrilled to be partnering with the Plant a Seed & See What Grows Foundation who share in our vision for food systems that nourish people and the planet. Thank you to the team at Plant a Seed & See What Grows Foundation for your collaboration and generous contribution, which is helping to reach more students and schools across the country.
Together, we can transform how food is experienced, learned and celebrated in all schools across Canada!
