with The Barrett Centre of Innovation in Sustainable Urban Agriculture
Curious about urban agriculture and how it can inspire students? On Tuesday, February 4th, at 3 PM EST we hosted a 60-minute webinar with Jennifer Hoban, Community Engagement Coordinator at The Barrett Centre of Innovation in Sustainable Urban Agriculture, located at Durham College.
Who attended
This webinar was open to educators and other community members across the country who were interested in hands-on food literacy for students from K-12 using urban agriculture approaches.
What we expected
We dove into practical resources like new lesson plans developed by the Centre that connect to Ontario’s curriculum and explored pan-Canadian topics that can be applied in classrooms across the country.
Plus, we heard the inside story of how the Barrett Centre established their small-scale regenerative farm with educational gardens and launched initiatives like Food IQ, a high school dual credit, and co-op placement program.
There was also a live Q&A which gave us fresh ideas and opportunities to enrich our approach to urban agriculture education.
