In the spring we shared that Farm to Cafeteria Canada will be hosting a National Farm to School Conference in beautiful Victoria, BC in May 2019. We’re pleased to be working with our BC provincial partners, the Public Health Association of BC, who is leading our local conference planning team.
This conference will build on the success of the Changing the Menu National School Food Conference (2015), and is designed to celebrate, link and advance activity to put more healthy, local and sustainable foods on the minds and plates of students across Canada – and beyond.
We’re now excited to share with you the following updates:
Field trips and workshops
We’re adding a day of informative and educational field trips and site visits. Arrive a day early (May 15, 2019) and join others in exploring some of the most unique educational farm to school programs in B.C. We are still in the planning stage, but expect multiple locations to choose from, some of which will include in-depth workshops and/or site tours. Mark your calendars and stay tuned for details!
Venue
The conference will be hosted at the Victoria Conference Centre (VCC), a national leader in hosting major conferences, meetings and exhibitions. We’re thrilled to be working with the VCC to ensure this exciting conference is a world-class event.
Accommodations
Our official conference partner providing accommodations is the historic Fairmont Empress Hotel, adjacent to the VCC and close to local attractions, shops and the stunning downtown Victoria waterfront.
Call for proposals
The call for conference proposals will be issued Monday October 15th during Farm to School Month celebrations. We’re seeking innovative and educational content via posters, workshops panel discussions and we want to hear from you!

Farm to School Conference Site
