nourish to flourish: New grants available to Ontario schools this school year!

Farm to Cafeteria Canada is pleased to be collaborating with our long-time partner, Sustain Ontario and Farm Boy, a leading Ontario food retailer, on nourish to flourish, a new grant initiative to support school meal programs and foster food literacy in Ontario schools, beginning in the 2024/25 school year.

With a vision to develop an ecosystem where children not only eat nourishing food but also develop a deep understanding and appreciation for food, the nourish to flourish School Grant program will award one-time grants to schools in the amounts of $500, $1,000 and $3,000 for a total of $55,000 to support food literacy programming as well as in-school meal programs in Ontario K-12 schools. This will allow schools to offer educational experiences such as immersive trips to farms, school gardens, and guest speaker events, and to purchase equipment and/or food that is as fresh, healthy, culturally appropriate and as locally and sustainably sourced as possible.

“With the largest population in Canada by a considerable margin, year after year demand for our school grant programs in Ontario is extremely high.  This new Ontario-specific grant stream will contribute significantly to F2CC’s goal of getting more grants into the hands of school communities across Canada, helping to nourish positive change in their school food environments.”
