Biography

Since 2018, Rose has worked for Second Harvest, the largest food rescue organization in Canada. Since she began, she has worked directly with over 300 social agencies, including many before/after school organizations, camps, and schools. As the Manager of Education and Training, she provides logistical support as well as delivers education and training workshops on food waste prevention, food safety, and food literacy & nutrition. Through her continuous work with the agencies, Rose understands the needs of frontline hunger relief organizations and their beneficiaries, as well as the significant need for food-focused training in the community. Rose is a certified waste auditor with the Recycling Council of Ontario and currently, the lead trainer and facilitator for Second Harvest’s Training and Education Program, facilitating 20-25 workshops per year, reaching over 1000 participants nationwide. She is trained in children and adult learning techniques and popular education. She is also a certified safe food handler instructor and exam proctor and represents Second Harvest at various speaking engagements. In her spare time, she enjoys facilitating workshops encouraging folks to do massive actions to fight climate change. She is also an avid hiker and leads hikes as a hike leader for the Toronto Bruce Trail Club.

Rose lives and works on the territory of the Anishinabek, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Ojibway/Chippewa peoples.
