School Description
Altario School began an agriculture program in 2017. What started as a school garden has blossomed into a fully operational school farm that includes the following livestock: pigs, turkeys, chickens, cattle, sheep, and bees. We also have two hydroponic food modulars where we harvest about 800 heads of produce each week. Finally, we have a hydroponic system that grows animal fodder indoors. This system can grow up to 1000 lbs of feed each day. Students operate a school store where they sell the products they grow and raise. Families participate in a subscription model so that they receive fresh produce on a bi-weekly basis. Finally, students receive scholarships based on the profitability of the farm.
