School Description
Caledonia and Admiral Westphal schools are located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. We currently serve universal breakfast and lunch programs (Food for CAWS) as well as run a cooking club in an attempt to mitigate the food security that we observe within our school community. Our students participate in these programs to learn food literacy and life skills. Currently our school budgets for food is quite limited and so our food programing is very basic and somewhat piece meal. We are reliant on applying for many small grants and receiving community donations that are always greatly appreciated but make planning and implementing our food program difficult. We are hoping that with the support of this federal funding that we can create a larger, more supportive network to bring more local and nutritious food into our school community!
