School Description
Mamquam Edible Schoolyard (MESY), established by Squamish Climate Action Network and located at Mamquam Elementary School, is comprised of 30 raised garden beds and a 20x40 ft greenhouse, one end of which is dedicated as year-round outdoor classroom space. The garden is planted with annual and perennial vegetable crops, pollinator-friendly flowers, herbs, and indigenous plant species. MESY is not only a central point for student learning, but is also a community learning resource that showcases innovative growing and sustainability practices that everyone in the Sea to Sky can be inspired by and learn from. Weekly garden lessons are run by the Squamish Climate Action Network.
